At a leisurely pace, you cycle through the lush Rhine Valley between corn fields, through shady forests and along rivers and canals overlooking the green cliff hillsides. Later, you'll follow the wine route up and down the edge of the Vosges Mountains, where the vines gracefully stand in long straight rows up the slopes. You'll pass one charming wine village after another with half-timbered houses and flowers everywhere, topped cobblestones and stork nests.
Alsace is a perfect "cycling country" for all categories of cyclists. The weather is warm both in spring, summer and fall, which is good both for the cycling tourist as well as the wine, as the grapes are picked in late November.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Strasbourg
Take a stroll around the pleasant neighborhoods along the river Ill, or maybe enjoy a boat ride on the canal to the European Parliament. Strasbourg has become the city of cyclists, where signposted routes lead you through the city on bike lanes and pavements, and where "le Tram", a modern tram, have almost taken over the role of the cars.
Info meeting and bike delivery between 16:00h and 18:00h (except Sunday).
Accommodation e.g. at the Grand Hotel or Hotel le Dragon, both centrally located in Strasbourg.
Day 2 To Selestat or one of the surrounding towns. Cycling distance approx. 55 km.
After leaving Strasbourg, you mainly ride on cycling paths along the Rhône-Rhine Canal into the heart of the Rhine Plain to Osthouse, Huttenheim or Sélestat.
Accommodation e.g. at the 2-3* Hotel Relais de l'Ill in Sermersheim or the 3* Hotel A la Ferme in Osthouse.
Day 3 To Colmar. Cycling distance approx. 49 km.
Another day's cycling in the flat Rhine Valley along rivers and canals, past farms and through charming villages. We recommend making at stop in Ebersmunster to see the beautiful Baroque church, before cycling the last few kilometres to Colmar on the cyckling path along the canal. Colmar is a charming town with beautiful old half-timbered houses that are very well maintained with artful decorations, lovely squares and cozy cafés.
Accommodation e.g. at Hotel Beauséjour in Colmar.
Day 4 To Riquewihr or one of the surrounding towns. Cycling distance approx. 40 km.
From Colmar you'll cross the Rhine Plain and approach the Vosges Mountains and the small wine villages at the bottom of the mountains. Like pearls on a string, you will find the well known wine villages Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr. You'll ride on the bike trails and roads along the vine-covered slopes.
Accommodation in Riquewihr e.g. at the 3* Hotel A l'Oriel or the 2-3* Hotel la Couronne.
Day 5 To Barr or Obernai. Cycling distance approx. 50 km.
Ride along the beautiful wine route that winds through the landscape with vineyards on both sides and with a view of the Vosges Mountains and Haut Königsbourg. You'll come through yet another series of charming villages such as Hunawihr with the storks, Ribeauvillé and Andlau with its Romanesque abbey.
Accommodation in Obernai e.g. at Hotel Jardins d'Adalric or Hotel le Gouveneur.
Day 6 To Strasbourg. Cycling distance approx. 40 km.
Through Molsheim, where Bugatti was founded, to the new capital of Europe. From Avolsheim you'll follow the beautiful, signposted cycle route that runs along the Bruche river. Here people ride their bikes, run on roller skates, take a stroll, fish or simply enjoy the sun from one of the many benches along the route.
